For our elders, education was a doorway to freedom and power. During captivity, we risked our lives and limbs for it. To break the back of Jim Crow, Septima Clarke taught thousands to read so they could register to vote. Malcolm X used the dictionary as a weapon. Today, mis-education is fast becoming a prison that is programming our youth to be alienated, apathetic, and delusional. Given the new legislation in many states and school districts that "a Black child can't be taught anything that would make a white child feel "guilty or ashamed," they are being taught to promote white supremacy, and become Anti-Afrikan. That's not a metaphor or exaggeration, it's law!
We're calling on an organizing mantra from back in the day - "Each one teach one" to help us meet this current crisis. Given the urgency and technology, we've modified it a bit to become
Each One Teach Ten (EOTT).
EOTT combines new technology - online digital courses with old-fashioned "touches" - human presence & conversation - to create a new answer to an old problem - academic motivation, academic success, and skillsets to serve as warriors, healers, and builders for our people.
EOTT provides an opportunity for AYA to expand on our success. For 27 years, we have successfully nurtured an African-Centered identity by curriculum and methodology to stimulate academic rigor and social responsibility to the Black community and the world - in that order
Hosting or supporting an EOTT circle is your opportunity to be a part of the solution to our current crisis - where your presence, guidance, love, wisdom, stories, and excitement provide the roots that give them wings.
Host AYA's proven courses with cohorts of ten or more Black students.
Here's the tech:
We place our proven Afrikan-centered digitized courses into your customized EOTT platform so your cohort of students and support specialist can access them with any internet connection via computer, tablet or phone.
Students and support specialists proceed through the course module at their own pace during the week, then meet together live - once a week for about two hours - usually on Saturdays or Sundays.
They log into your EOTT circle online platform. Remember, the students have grown up in the digital age, and we provide monthly training sessions for your support specialists.
The course material (text, audio, video) is provided and automatically checked and graded. As the student progresses through, they get automic feedback as well as community feedback to affirm, correct, or extend their learning. You don't have to teach the course.
Note: When students log into the class they log into an online local and national community so they are never alone!
Support specialists from your EOTT circle get automatic feedback on student progress or difficulty. Our web-based digital platform becomes customized for your circle.
No coding!
No technical skills.
If you can visit a website and check your email, you're good!
Typical recuitment, course communication emails, and course certificates are also already provided for easy tweaking and automatically emailing.
Course grading and feedback? We got that, too.
EOTT: It's like "Education in a Circle" - an Each One Teach Ten Circle.
But, tech, content, and convience aren't enough, each course is wrapped in African culture, family, and community. This is especially needed because we're asking the students to succeed against the anti-African grain.
We want them to embrace their Africanness and academic excellence - when both are under attack in the US today.
In Jan. 2025, a new federal executive order characterized k-12 education framing white people as oppressors must be banned in favor of "patriotic education" or risk losing federal funding.
Since 2021, 44 States have seen bills, executive orders or similar guidlines.
At least 24 states have enacted some form of ban or restrictions on Black children learning our true history regarding race in America.
That's where you come in - they need support, Black encouragement, motivation, inspiration to study Black. Your example and support helps them understand the racism that they and we are experiencing.
Sometimes they need help to understand the course concepts or just to keep going over a rough patch. They also need community that expects the best of them and supports them in attaining it - inspite of what is arrayed against us!
Your cohort of students and support specialists join a community of others also enrolled nationally and internationaly.
Inside that cirle is another - your circle of parents, community and support specialists who support the students online or at local venues.
Weekly students and EOTT Circle support specialists, meet together to discuss the course modules.
To be apart of these Black-only circles, people have to love our students, be excited about the course material, and believe in Black people and Black student success no matter what! They must also learn The AYA Way support skills which is based on our proven Warrior, Healer, Builder technology.
Your Each One Teach Ten circle starts with you, your group or organization. You invite the students to learn and the family in as academic supporters.
Through AYA's training they become support specialists. The EOTT circle becomes a blend of high tech and high touch that leads to academic and social success.
Together we will have created a stimulating identity-building, academically rigorous safe place - a maroon circle where they can be free to be Afrikan.
In 2025-2026, we are rolling out a new course, roughly every four to six weeks. Every month we hold support training and support options pegged for each class. TAW support specialsts get stronger each month.
By the end of the school year, each Educational Collaborator can offer all seven courses to their cohorts. Students and their parents mix and match courses after each period.
Because each course stresses another aspect of TAWT, over the span of cources, support specialists learn tested options for supporting each other and each student to academic success.
#1: The Gullah and Black Seminoles 100-Year War
#2: Following "Araminta" Harriet Tubman US History 1822 - 1913
#3: Melanin Healing Science
#4: The Economic Conundrum: Tulsa's Black Wall Street
#5: The Family-Lore Project
#6: Sanfoka Math
#7: Story Healing Power
Optional. Advanced.
For those seeking AYA Certification, the 7-Course TAW support specialist training is the starting path. Each course has been chosen to emphasize key aspects of "The AYA Way." You become skilled at them by successfully completing the course yourself, and applying TAWT tools and processes in support of those in the EOTT Circle - students, family, and other support volunteers.
That is followed by our WHB evaluations and training or re-training.
This includes us giving you a topic and you shaping a course and cohort where you use the WHB tool set to design the course and implement support to get students successfully through.
Once you declare your intention to seek certification, the monthly meetings shift accordingly and we'll start your journey to become AYA "TAWT" certified.
"Loved everything so far"

We understand that blending high-tech digital courses with community touches can be challenging.
There are many moving parts, so we're taking it one course and support cycle at a time to make the final seven.
You'll need to check with your particular school. Many schools and universities have been impressed by AYA's courses and accepted them on admission transcripts. You may also include them on your homeschooling transcript. However, the classes are designed to meet the needs of our students and prepare them to serve our community first.
Your online platform lets you track your progress through daily reports, weekly challenges, and monthly assessments.
Because you are providing key community and support services, you may charge what you like.
Absolutely! While you are current on your account, we provide unlimited acess to course and support training resources for the courses for which you are subscribed.
